Blue Ridge Mountain National Parkway

Day 9 Posse Ride Eastern Campaign Tuesday June 21, 2005 Machon, GA to Johnson City, TN 492 miles A little cooler, partly sunny States: 27-South Carolina, 28-North Carolina, 29-Tennessee Rode with: Kazuo and Kyoko and Jay. We start out sticking with the map we are given. I am usually a good navigator and map reader, but I get mixed up early in the ride. We pull into a gas station to turn around and purchase more maps, and there we run into Jay. He is there purchasing maps also! At the next mistake I make, we pull into another station, and Jay and I get out all the maps. We realize that we can easily add on part on the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway. And I say, look how close we are to Great Smokey National Park, we add that on. Kazuo and Kyoko are happy they will get to see both of those National Parks. The ride is amazing, the Blue Ridge Mountain National Parkway, with its fabulous views, the Great Smokey National Park and its beautiful creeks and woods, and then on the way to Johnson City, TN, all those beautiful rolling Tennessee farms, a good route. And we had so much fun, we laughed all day long. But the route was longer than we realized, we are on the road for 13 hours, almost five hundred miles, we are exhausted.
