Day 16 Posse Ride Eastern Campaign Tuesday June 28, 2005 Portland, ME to Pittsfield, MA 300 miles Morning was really nice, 70's and sunny, afternoon rainy, then cleared up again. States: 42: Vermont Rode with: Jay We started a little late, took the "scenic" route out of the city, stopped for breakfast, stopped for directions trying to find the photogenic covered bridge with the waterfall. Then we got on the freeway and made some time. When we hit Vermont it started raining. Too bad actually, Vermont is probably one of the prettiest areas of this ride and we could hardly see past our face. We had to stop several times, its very hard for Harold and Jay riding in this. At one stop they gave us a little short cut, down the east side of the hills instead of the west. It turns out that side was sunny and clear, and a shorter ride. Got to the Harley dealers for hot dogs. But this dealer was back to normal, staying open late until all or most of the riders got in.
