| We were supposed to stay overnight at Elkhart. But last night we decided to cancel our hotels and ride all the way to Bensenville, stay at our house, see Eric, Sam, and Pete. And then we'll have a short ride to Milwaukee tomorrow. We ran into Dave at the dealer, Kazuo told him what was going on, and before Dave talked to me Dave canceled his hotel too. Meanwhile I had talked to a local rider/trucker, who did the Indiana/Chicago route all the time. He explained HOG had organized it correctly in the first place, traffic through Chicago would definitely be better early Saturday morning. Too late, we don't have anywhere to stay in Elkhardt now, and its a holiday weekend. The trucker thinks we should wait and leave at night. C.J. arrives to visit, he lives near this dealer. Harold and I rode the Route 66 ride with C.J. and the Lake Ontario ride. C.J. just came from Chicago, forget 80, its under construction. Forget the Skyway its already backed up. He suggests we take the Lake Michigan Circle Tour, go up to Highway 12 and then up Lake Shore Drive. So off we go. Turns out to be an interesting ride and a great idea. |
