Day 22 Posse Ride Eastern Campaign
Monday July 4, 2005
Apple Canyon Lake, IL
0 miles
Light rain in the morning, clear and sunny and nice in the afternoon and evening.
Rode with: Kazuo, Kyoko, Dave, Carolyn, Marty, Heinke, Stefan, Tobias and Frank.

After a hot tub, Kyoko is making Japanese breakfast. Carolyn and Marty call, they are lost, Harold goes and gets them. We met Carolyn and Marty on Lewis and Clark and also rode with them last year on the Western Campaign. They live in Susanville, CA. They are shipping their bike home from Chicago on Wednesday, which they arranged so they could spend a few days with us at the lake. They arrive in time for a wonderful Japanese breakfast.

Now we go out on the lake. As we are boating past The Cove, the restaurant on our lake, Kazuo suddenly shouts, Tobias, Tobias! We are all so excited. On Saturday Heike thought they could not make it to the lake. So we are thrilled to see them. They have to leave tomorrow morning.

Stefan is hungry. "The Hood", which is us, Al & Sue, Michelle and Brian, always has a big 4th of July party, the same day as the lake fireworks, which was Saturday. Although Harold and I cannot make it, we still contribute. They get extra food. We all know the party will be going on for days. Brian and Michelle live there, Al and Sue are going to be there all week, with some friends, and we are going to be there until Wednesday morning with some friends. So since Al and Sue have the extra food, we decide to go there for lunch. We get there and Al and Sue are out. But we are all really good friends in "The Hood", the door is open. So the ten of us Harley Posse Riders make ourselves at home. We fire up the grill. Get their food out of the fridge. Help ourselves to Al's beer. Hunt around for paper plates and silverware. And set up for lunch on their patio. Most American's don't have neighbors they are this close with, so even Dave, Carolyn and Marty are a little amazed at this. But the Austrians and Japanese are floored. And now we start thinking of ways to mess with Al.
