| Aloha Day 9 Sun 10/24//2004 Our last day in Maui, took our oceanside walk, oceanside cappuccino, oceanside breakfast. Then packing, traveling to the airport, Maui security, both regular and agricultural. We had five bags to check going home, so they wanted to charge us an extra $80.00. So I said I'll just carryon my little suitcase, its that international size with rollers. Got all the way to security before realizing it had not been checked by us to make sure everything on it was legal. Sure enough, we had a knife in the pocket. Fortunately we found it, not security. Had to go back to check in with it, have them go find our bags and add it to the checked luggage. Papaya and grapefruit confiscated by the Agricultural police. And then the price to pay for paradise. Row 30 on our airplane. The most uncomfortable seats ever. All the channels were turned to jazz, so we had to watch the movie without sound. My light would not go on, so I couldn't read. Which didn't matter too much since Maui airport doesn't sell books, only Hawaiian shirts and pineapples. Harold's light didn't turn off, so we couldn't sleep. Which was not a problem the guy directly behind us had, he snored loudly most of the way to Chicago. And the food was terrible. So there's the price to pay for nine days in paradise. Its good to be back to Chicago. The weather is beautiful here and the fall colors are still pretty good. Our pets, Eric the Parrot, Sam the Cat, and Pete the Puppy missed us and we missed them. But they were all well cared for and are well and happy. We are looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow. Mahalo for sharing our convention/vacation with us, Aloha, Suzi & Harry |
